The Nevada Gaming Control Board reported a post-PASPA record $27.6 million in sportsbook revenue from baseball for July on Friday as part of another solid month for Silver State operators.
It marked the first time the house surpassed $20 million in baseball revenue in back-to-back months, with July’s haul quickly replacing the standard of $21.9 million established in June. Operators attained a 10.7% hold against $258 million handle, the first month exclusively during the regular season with a double-digit hold.
The $37.8 million in total sportsbook winnings represented a 46.7% increase from July 2024, easily outpacing the 11.6% bounce in handle to $419.3 million. The 9%-plus hold ranks seventh in 86 months of post-PASPA wagering, with July marking the second time this year above 9%.
The statewide hold for 2025 is just shy of 7%, up seven-tenths of a percentage point versus last year and contributing to a 15.3% increase in year-to-date revenue to $305.3 million. Handle is up only 3.6% at $4.37 billion, and July’s wagering left Nevada $3.8 million shy of $50 billion handle post-PASPA.
The state redirected $2.6 million into its tax coffers in July, and the $20.6 million in sports betting receipts for the first seven months of 2025 is running $2.7 million ahead of last year’s pace.
Move ’em out, head ’em up: Rawhide

The sport has been a popular draw for bettors as the $972.7 million handle in that span represents a 12.3% year-over-year increase. July revenue surged 44.5% year-over-year, and baseball revenue the last four months is up 56%.

The catch-all “other” category, which includes golf, soccer, tennis, boxing, MMA, and table tennis in Nevada, provided the other large chunk of revenue with more than $9.7 million. The house crafted a 9.3% hold on those wagers from $104.8 million handle as winnings were 12.9% higher than last year.
Still cashing football tickets
Nevada sportsbook revenue was again dragged down slightly by bettors who had winning football tickets. Operators paid out $968,000 above the $2.8 million worth of accepted wagers, which has given the public $20.2 million in winnings above the $9.2 million handle generated from March through July.
That is slightly better than the same period last year, when sportsbooks took in $8.5 million worth of bets but paid out $24.7 million above that amount.
Some bettors found fortune in picking the Florida Panthers to repeat as Stanley Cup champions as operators finished July down $882,000. At the same time, they took less than $7,200 worth of action.
Operators posted a small gain in basketball compared to last year, finishing $809,000 to the good after a net loss of $168,000 in 2024. They had a modest 1.9% hold on $42.8 million handle.
