Are there any good NFL teams?
Obviously, the answer is yes, but who are they? I ask this because in our company Slack chat, someone who I consider smart and sharp wondered if it was worth sprinkling a little money on the Cowboys — I repeat, the Cowboys — to win the Super Bowl — I repeat, the Super Bowl — at 70/1 and … and I couldn’t come up with a reason against.
Remember last week when the Rams were the best team in the league, and then they lost to the Panthers?
Or take a look at this week, where the Patriots are the No. 1 seed in the AFC and the Bears are the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
Teams currently on the outside of the playoff bubble include the Chiefs, Bengals, Texans, and Lions. And the Ravens, who have been terrible at times, are in the playoffs right now.
Clearly, the picture is muddy.
Of course, by the time the playoffs roll around, we’ll all think we know who’s the team to beat, but right now … yeah, it’s probably worth 70/1 on the Cowboys.
On to Week 14!
The +1000 or more parlay of the week
OK, we didn’t hit it last week, but that’s OK, because we hit that +2400 monster a few weeks back. Onward, upward, etc.
This week, at FanDuel, gimme the Browns at home laying 3.5 points to the Titans, the Seahawks outright at -335 over Atlanta, the over 41.5 in the Jets-Dolphins game, and the Texans outright at +152 over Kansas City. All told, a modest +1079 parlay.
Rationale: The Browns are home against a terrible Titans team. While the Browns are also #NotGood, their defense should dominate. The Seahawks are going to carve up the Falcons defense, so that’s easy. The Dolphins are playing for their playoff lives, and the Jets have shown a little life with Tyrod Taylor. Finally, I’ve been off the Chiefs all year, and I don’t think they have enough offensive firepower to overcome the Texans defense. Upset special there.
Obvious three-team teaser that won’t hit
Down to 6-7 here, but still profitable at Caesars as all these teasers are priced at +140. Always be line shopping, people. This week, let’s go with the Seahawks giving a point to the Falcons, the Bills getting a half-point at home against the Bengals, and the Rams giving 2.5 points in Arizona.
It’s a trap!
Down to 6-7, backed the Browns last week. This week … yep, it’s the Chiefs. I know they’re home, but they should not be 3.5-point favorites over the Texans.
Did I win the DraftKings Milly Maker?
No, but I finished 18th in a FanDuel contest with more than 38,000 entries. I turned $4 into $150. I’m retiring.
DraftKings DFS plays of the week
I backed Cam Ward last week, so I know nothing, but this week I really like the Browns’ Quinshon Judkins against the Titans. It’s going to be the ugliest 30-100-2 game you’ll ever see.
Mortal-lock, can’t lose, 900 number, send your money now play of the week
Down to 5-8, had the Dolphins, this week I’m rolling with the Texans getting 3.5 in Kansas City. I don’t understand this line.
